REPORTING TRAIL PROBLEMS

bridge near riffle ford rd Anyone may report a trail problem. An Observer/Reporter Volunteer should file a report at least three times a year on the section of the Greenway Trail he/she covers. A report should contain the following information:
  1. Your name
  2. A description of the problem.
  3. The nearest road to the problem and approximately how far in one has to walk to reach the problem.

The All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Problem

It is illegal to drive motorized vehicles on parkland. This has become an increasing problem along the Greenway Trail and side trails. Please report ATV's on county park land (route 355 and north) to the County Park Police at: 301-949-3010.
Report ATV's on state park land (south of Rt. 355) to the State Park Police at: 1-800-825-7275. If the problem persists, call the Sencea Creek State Park office at: 301-924-2127.

Picking up trash along Old Seneca Rd. would be a good project.
13 April 03 - The No Bikes sign has been removed from the Seneca Creek Greenway Trail sign at Berryville Road at the section of trail heading downstream.
Berryville Road to Berryville Road Side Trail
23 Feb. 08 - The trail is clear.
Consider rerouting the side trail from the street to SCGT.
Berryville Road Side Trail to Rt. 28
23 Feb. 08 - The trail is clear.
Widen the trail along the hillside just after exiting the open field.
Rt. 28 to Black Rock Mill
23 Feb. 08 - The trail is clear
Black Rock Mill to Rt. 118
31 Jan. 08 - The trail is clear.

The short boardwalk needs to be cabled.
The footing for the bridge closest to Rt. 118 has turned up and needs to be put in place.
Rt. 118 to Riffle Ford Road
30 Nov. 07 - The trail is clear.
The trash pile near Rt.118 needs to be removed.
Riffle Ford Road to Clopper Road
19 Feb. 08 - The trail is clear.
Erosion problem on steep hillside going up from creek. Put switchback in trail.
About 1/10 mi. downstream from Clopper Rd. move the trail from muddy area closer to stream.
Clopper Road to Rt. 355
16 Feb. 08 - The trail is clear.
Fix broken handrail on bridge near Clopper.
A second culvert pipe is needed.
Remove trash near the 270 bridge.
Rt. 355 to Watkins Mill Road
23 Feb. 08 - The trail is clear.
The stone stream crossing below the dam needs improvement.
Potential trail rerouting where it makes a sharp turn near the road.
The fiberglass bridge side railing is off and needs repair.
Watkins Mill Road to Brink Road
10 Mar. 08 - The trail is clear.
1 Oct.06 - Waterbars are needed on the hill by the Watkins Mill parking lot.
The wooden bridge is in the gully by the first bridge downstream from Brink.
Mud holes along trail need to be filled in.
Near Brink Rd., the trail is too near the stream.
Brink Road to Huntmaster Road
13 Jly. 07 - The trail is clear.
The bridge over gully needs to be cabled.
Huntmaster Road to Magruder Branch
23 Feb. 08 - The trail is clear.
Water from Huntmaster Rd. is flowing onto the trail and needs to be diverted.
11 Feb. 08 - The boardwalk just upstream from Huntmaster needs repair.
13 Jly. 07 - Waterbars need to be dug out and one or two more added where the trail goes steeply uphill at about 1.1 miles from Huntmaster.
At the location of the two bridges, one has been washed slightly downstream and needs to be reset. The other has a missing board.
Magruder Branch Trail to Patuxent River Start Park
Trail needs to be built.
Magruder Branch Trail to Watkins Road
10 Feb. 08 - Trail is clear.
There are some muddy spots along the trail.
Watkins Road to Log House Road
27 Feb. 08 - A tree blocks the trail near Log House Road.
A bridge is needed across the side stream about 8/10 mile from Watkins Rd.
Log House Road to Damascus Regional Park
10 Feb. 08 - Trail is clear.
This section of trail is frequently used by ATV's.
